About Speedworks Motorsport

Run by husband and wife Christian and Amy Dick, Speedworks have had much success in the past including winning the Team Championship in the Ginetta G50 Cup, and the British GT 4 Championship at the wheel of a Ginetta G50; in fact it was no-other than team principal Christian Dick’s participation in both of these Championships that secured these wins. The team have also had success in other sports car categories including Ginetta G20s and Mazda MX5s. They also ran a Chevrolet Corvette in the top class of the British GT Championship.

Speedworks debuted in the BTCC Championship in 2011 with former Ginetta driver, and Hughes Safety Showers CEO, Tony Hughes behind the wheel of the very first Next Generation Touring Car. In what was a steep learning curve they gained many plaudits and were rewarded, as the team doubled in size in 2012, when they were joined by 2011 Ginetta GT Supercup Champion Adam Morgan in his debut season in Britain’s premier saloon racing championship. 2013 saw them run two cars for the second successive season with BTCC regulars Dave Newsham and Ollie Jackson at the wheel of the teams pair of Toyota Avensis NGTC cars.

2014 saw the team run former Ginetta GT Supercup Champion, and BRDC Rising Star; Tom Ingram in the British Touring Car Championship. They also supported the Handy Motorsport team in their inaugural season in the BTCC, with Simon Belcher making his step up from Renault Clios. The team also went back to it's roots, campaigning a Ginetta G50 in the 24H Series, taking a class win at Dubai and also racing in Mugello and Zandvoort before a heavy crash at Zandvoort brought an early end to the campaign.

What a year 2015 turned out to be for Speedworks Motorsport! Tom Ingram piloted his Toyota Avensis to a dream second place at Rockingham followed up by another stellar performance at Brands Hatch in the final round securing another second place for the Speedworks outfit. Alongside Tom's outstanding BTCC season, John Gilbert and Devon Modell claimed the 24HR Series SP3 Championship in an Aston Martin and Tony Hughes claimed second in the SP3 Championship in a Ginetta G50.

Speedworks BTCC break through came in 2016 when Tom Ingram won BTCC race 1 at Brands Hatch. This gave both Tom and the team there first win in the championsip and paved the way for the most successful BTCC campaign to date. Multiple podium finishes led Tom Ingram to finish the championship standings in the Top 10 and 4th in the Independent standings. Speedworks as a team finished 7th in the standings and 3rd in the independent teams championship.

2017 sees another new chapter in the history of Speedworks Motorsport as they embark on a LMP3 campaign with John Gilbert and Christian Dick behind the project.
