Seven Up: Motul extends partnership with Speedworks into 2020 BTCC campaign
World-class engine lubricant company Motul and its UK distributor Witham Motorsport have extended their partnership with Speedworks Motorsport into a seventh consecutive year ahead of the 2020 British Touring Car Championship campaign.
Although the forthcoming BTCC season has been delayed by UK Government restrictions as a consequence of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, both Motul and Witham Motorsport are delighted to be continuing their support of the Speedworks-run Toyota Gazoo Racing UK with Ginsters team and its multiple race-winning driver, Tom Ingram.
“Together with Motul, we are very proud to keep supplying our winning formula products to Speedworks Motorsport and we look forward to the exciting championship once the season starts later his year,” said Richard Scarbrough, Witham Motorsport Sales Director.
Ingram – widely tipped as a future BTCC champion and one of the series’ undisputed rising stars – is heading into his second campaign behind the wheel of Speedworks’ Toyota Corolla, after the team switched from the Toyota Avensis that he piloted to nine race wins and back-to-back Independent Team and Driver trophies in 2017 and 2018.
Following a winter of development and testing, Ingram and Speedworks are fired-up for what they hope will be their most successful year to-date in Britain’s premier motorsport series. The 26-year-old Bucks-born ace topped the timesheets during the official pre-season test at Silverstone last month, and after reaching the top step of the podium an impressive four times in 2019, there are firm expectations of more silverware to come.
“Motul and Witham Motorsport have supported us since Tom came on-board in 2014 and have become a major part of the team,” acknowledged Toyota Gazoo Racing UK with Ginsters Team Principal, Christian Dick. “Their support has been infallible, and we look forward to embarking upon yet another exciting new chapter with them.
“Good quality oil and fluids always improve performance, so we’re delighted to be working with Motul and Witham Motorsport for what I hope will be our best season yet.”
The BTCC annually attracts almost 20 million live television viewers on ITV4 and tens of thousands of trackside spectators at each race weekend. The revised 2020 calendar will be revealed in due course.
