SPEEDWORKS TO SEBRING WITH G50

Speedworks will be taking the Tony Hughes G50 out to Sebring to compete in the Sebring Endurance Challenge 5-8th March. Team principal Christian Dick will be Tony Hughes co-driver for the weekend.

Sebring International Raceway is America's premier sports car racing facility. Nestled among the orange groves and cattle ranches of central Florida, it is the oldest permanent road racing track in North America, evolving from a World War II air base.

Sebring is world famous for the annual 12 Hours of Sebring endurance race, part of the prestigious American Le Mans Series. All the legends have raced at Sebring... Mario Andretti, A.J. Foyt, Dan Gurney, Stirling Moss, Juan Manuel Fangio, Phil Hill and dozens of other international motor racing legends, driving race cars built by the world's great manufacturers such as Ferrari, Porsche, Jaguar, Audi, Ford, Maserati, Aston Martin and Nissan, and now they can add Ginetta to that list!

Today, Sebring International Raceway is owned by the Panoz Motorsports Group, whose founder Dr. Don Panoz revived the famous Sebring circuit in 1999 by initiating a multi-million dollar enhancement.

'Its a fantastic event to be a part of' claimed Team principal Christian Dick, 'it is also another chance for Speedworks motorsport to compete internationally and a great way to start the season!'

2008 RACING REVIEW

2008 was a fantastic year for Speedworks Motorsport gaining many podiums as well as some fantastic racing!
G20 Racing
This year Speedworks fielded up to 11 different drivers in the series. Regular drivers Neil Merry, Dave Jackson, Richard Sykes and Phil Sykes had a good year but with mixed fortunes. One of the highlights would have to be the podium blockout by Speedworks at Knockhill, Phil, Richard and Paul Sheard all getting to the podium. Speedworks finished the year with 2nd in the Teams Championship.
G50 Racing
Speedworks fielded 4 cars this year in the debut season for the Ginetta G50. Speedworks regulars Tony Hughes and Richard Sykes along with Team Principal Christian Dick completed the season. Mark Proctor joined for the last two meetings and continued onto the winter series. Highlights would have to be the first win at Silverstone for Dick as well as many lap records and 10 podium finishes throughout the season. Speedworks finished the year as winners of the Teams Championship, 3rd in the driver Championship and 2nd in the Winter Series.
Historic Racing
2008 saw Speedworks Motorsports first foray into historic racing with regular driver Neil Merry and team principal Christian Dick racing the Sunbeam Tiger. We contested several Masters meetings as well as joining the Heritage Touring car finale at Brands where the wet race saw the Tiger move 10 places through the race. Another highlight would be the fantastic qualifying place gained at the AMOC meeting at Donington where the Tiger started 4th.
Mazda Mx5 Racing
2008 saw Speedworks going back to their roots for a one off meeting at our local Oulton Park Circuit. Team Principal Christian Dick contested the final round of the Max5 season alongside step-father Paul Sheard. He qualified 2nd and finished 2nd and 3rd. The set-up expertise of the team was shown by Speedworks regular Scot Kirlew who took his car to Snetterton and finished the weekend with a 1st, 2nd two 3rds and fastest lap!
