TEAM IN PREPARATION FOR BRANDS

The last two weeks have seen all at Speedworks finalising plans and continuing testing in preparation for the first G50 Cup round at Brands Hatch where they will be joining the British Touring Cars for the UKs largest and most prestigious race programme.

In less than a weeks time the team will be heading down to Brands where Christian Dick, Richard Sykes and Mark Proctor will be racing. "All the hard work the team has put into the testing programme over the past two months should stand us in good stead," said Christian "and everyone is looking forward to getting back out on track!"

SPEEDWORKS REFLECTS ON INCREDIBLE START TO THE SEASON

Last weekend at Sebring saw a weekend of firsts for Speedworks Motorsport.

It was the first race meeting we had contested in the USA, the first night race (in which the Sykes/Hull G50 beat the Hughes/Dick car on the last lap - very exciting race!), the first 3 hour endurance race (in which we claimed second and third in class, Hughes and Dick beating Sykes and Hull this time) and the Ginetta G50s debut appearance in the States. Not to mention racing at a prestigious and historic track like Sebring International Raceway.

The cars ran faultlessly, a tribute to the boys in the workshop who worked really hard to update the cars and adapt them for the endurance race. It was also a fantastic result in that race getting second and third in class on a grid of 65 cars.

Due to the success of all of the team over there, Speedworks will be running a number of cars at Daytona International Speedway for the Daytona Continental Historic Races sponsored by Rolex on the 5th - 8th November 2009.

SPEEDWORKS SUCCESS AT SEBRING

Speedworks Motorsport today contested the Sebring Endurance Challenge. This was a 3 hour race in extreme heat! Two cars were out, Car 120 was the charge of Tony Hughes and Speedworks Team principal Christian Dick. Dick qualified the car in 19th position out of 65 cars, this meant he was to start the race. Car 121 was driven by team stalwart Richard Sykes and superkart driver Nick Hull, Sykes qualified 23rd and he also was to start the race.

The first stint saw impressive driving by both cars with Dick having the edge and running as high as 12th against some impressive machinery. One being the former le mans 24hr winning Audi! Hughes took over for the second stint of the race and set some great times. Hull took over from Sykes and continued to impress in his G50 debut. A slick pit stop meant that Dick and Sykes went out for the third stint in good shape before turning their cars over to Hughes and Hull for the run to the flag.

The Hughes/Dick car came in at 16th overall and 2nd in class and the Sykes/Hull car finished 3rd in class.

"After 3 hours and 64 laps of Sebring, the cars still drove the same on the last lap as they did on the first," said Dick, "the crew in the pits were faultless and every driver on the team exceeded expectation. To get both cars to the finish let alone on the podium is amazing, especially when considering its our first attempt at an endurance race!"

Speedworks will be next out racing at Brands Hatch on 4/5th April for the G50 cup.
